Mells Daffodil Festival

I was really disappointed to find out I had missed the Mells Daffodil Festival, which was held on Easter Monday.

Mells is a half our drive from The White House and we have been several times to have dinenr at The Talbot, which we can recommend for food, beer and ambiance.

I hadn’t heard of the Festival, which started in 1979 when daffodil bulbs were distributed to the whole of the village to create a dramatic effect.

The event looked fantastic, with food stalls, bands (including the Wurzels!) street stalls and best of all (for those who know me) Morris dancers………

I’ve added the event to my calendar for next year.

Happy Easter!

We were fully booked this Easter here at The White House and while our first guests have now left, we have welcomed more today with further guests arriving tomorrow.

And although the weather has been mixed, everyone was kept happy with a plentiful supply of home made hot cross buns.  Absolutely delicious if I say so myself and will definately bake them again next year!

Happy Easter

Easter is almost upon us and we are expecting our guests to arrive later today and tomorrow.  Amongst them will be our first guests to our new property – School House at Wookey Hole so it is an exciting time for us here at The White House.

Although the weather doesn’t look too good (after a couple of weeks of brilliant sunshine we have the typical bank holiday weather menu of rain…..) there is still lots to do and one of the highlights will be the beginning of the Frome Independent Market  season on Sunday 4th April.

Frome hit the headlines last week in The Times as one of the nicest places to live in England and while I understand why it hit the list, a part of me is wondering if the judges missed Dinder and Dulcote!

Whatever you decide to do over the Easter holidays, enjoy and try not to eat too much chocolate…………………..
