Terry and Masons Great Food Trip

A couple of weeks ago I talked about Terry and Masons Great Food Trip and since then everyone hear at The White House Bed and Breakfas have watched every episode to make sure we didn’t miss Wells.

Well, last night it was on and we weren’t disappointed. Terry and Mason spent a lot of time in the market square and also visited Vicars Close, the oldest inhabited street in Europe. And we learned a couple of things too. We hadn’t realised that Wells Market, which is on every Wednesday ad Saturday, won best market in the South West in 2014, and also weren’t aware that snails in cider was a local delicacy! We’ll have to give that one a try…..

John Burke’s a-Musings Blog on The White House

My old friend and colleague, John Burke, visited us during the Bank Holiday Weekend.  It was the first time we had seen each other in over 10 years and as you can imagine, the conversation still hadn’t dried up when he left…….

John and his lovely wife, Fran, really enjoyed there stay and took the opportunity to tour the area, including Dulcote itself and Wells.  His views on The White House and surrounding area can be found on his very amusing blog http://bispham2.blogspot.co.uk/

Kitchen Garden at The White House

Our new piece of land at the back of The Old Barn is coming along nicely.  Over the past week we have planted a wide range of fruit and vegetables in our kitchen garden including parsnips, carrots, broccoli, courgettes, pumpkin, spinach, peas, green beans, blueberries, cauliflower and beetroot.  Our car park has been laid and all that is now needed is decorative topping, and we even have a piece laid to turf.  Instant grass!  And my daughter, Lucy, has also planted a wild flower garden.

Very much looking forward to watching all of the plants grow over the coming weeks.

The White House Dulcote is finally ready to welcome our guests!

After a final week of hard work we are  finally ready to welcome our first guests on Saturday and everything looks beautiful.  The blossom is spectacular and apparently, because of the wonderful weather we have been enjoying this Spring,  it is the best year for blossom in 80 years, Look at our website at www.thewhitehousedulcote.co.uk to see the final pictures of our Old Barn
