What a fantastic Bank Holiday weekend we had here in Dulcote with record temperatures and clear blue skies.
As well as getting out in the garden the highlight of the weekend was attending the Festival of Stonemasonry. This is the first time the festival has been run and we are very hopeful it will become an annual event, showcasing this centuries old skill in our stunning Cathedral city.
The festival was organised by Paul Roddan, the craftsman responsible for the renovation of our Well, and he did a stirling job in getting this whole event up and running. We visited twice – on Sunday to see the carvings in progress; and again on Monday to bid at the auction.
While we didn’t manage get our first two choices (although we did do a good job in getting the bids to increase substantially) we finally managed to secure the final bid of the auction and so we are now the proud owners of a gargoyle!
It hasn’t yet been delivered but will post a picture as soon as it is in situ! But meanwhile, here are some photos of the event and the carvings in progress…
