Snow White and The Huntsman

A few days ago I promised to post some pictures of Snow White and the Huntsman, which is currently filming in Wells, less than a mile from The White House Bed and Breakfast.

Well, the pictures aren’t great, and I didn’t manage to capture the huge encampment at the bottom of Bishops Fields, but here goes….

The place is a hive of activity at the moment, although we haven’t yet managed to see any of the stars of the film

Snow White and The Huntsman

Preparation is going on in earnest for the filming of the prequel to ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’.  Fake walls are being build around the archway to the City Square and Bishps Palace; there is a mass of security and huge marquees in the fields connecting Dulcote to Wells.  Charlize Theron, Emily Blunt and Chris Hemsworth are starring, and rumour has it that many of the props from Harry Potter films will be re-used in the film.

Raining heavily here at the moment but if the weather eases, I’ll try to get some picture to upload to our post.

John Burke’s a-Musings Blog on The White House

My old friend and colleague, John Burke, visited us during the Bank Holiday Weekend.  It was the first time we had seen each other in over 10 years and as you can imagine, the conversation still hadn’t dried up when he left…….

John and his lovely wife, Fran, really enjoyed there stay and took the opportunity to tour the area, including Dulcote itself and Wells.  His views on The White House and surrounding area can be found on his very amusing blog http://bispham2.blogspot.co.uk/

Things to Do during the May Bank Holiday in Dulcote, Wells

The sun is shining and the Bank Holiday is almost with us.  Fingers crossed it stays this way although the forecast is good for the weekend with temperatures around 18 degrees for Saturday.

The Bishops Palace in Wells have a number of activities throughout the week, with a family activity day on 27th May and Children’s trails, Garden Games and Pond Dipping taking place throughout the week.

And for the adults, we have the first garden opening for the National Gardens Scheme:  MILTON Lodge, in Wells, first opened in aid of the National Gardens Scheme in 1962, and opens for the first of three afternoons this season on Sunday, May 17, from 2pm to 5pm
